It is always very important for parents to make sure their children’s eyes are HEALTHY - this is the starting point for obtaining clear vision throughout a child's life - even into adulthood.
During a child’s first 12 years of life, approximately 80 percent of ALL learning comes through vision.
The doctors at Visionary Eyecare want your children to have a POSITIVE experience at school, so we strive to provide the most precise vision for your child so that vision is not hindered during this critical learning time!!
Many parents are unaware that many vision problems and children's eye health issues can be missed or overlooked on a Pediatrician's or a School Vision Screening. These quick screenings only check to see if the child can see the eye chart....but, many vision and eye health disorders may not cause changes in the child's vision until it is too late. Children should have a full comprehensive eye examination done by an EYE DOCTOR BEFORE they enter school...the earlier, the better!!
The Doctor's at Visionary Eyecare like to start seeing children for a full eye exam between the ages of 4 and 5. An exam CAN be done on a child - even if he or she does not know how to read or does not know his/her letters or alphabet yet.
For these children, we use a special child eye chart that has pictures instead of letters. We find that this children's eye chart works very well when kid's do not know their letters yet. There is another children's eye chart for kid's that we use - called "Tumbling E's".....it is a chart composed of all E's pointing either up, down, left or right - the child just points which way "the legs of the E are pointing" !!

Good eye health and vision is important to your child’s learning and vision problems can affect their performance in school. Undetected or untreated vision problems can hinder a child’s ability to perform to their full potential in school. In fact, many eye diseases can impair vision or lead to vision loss, which is why it is important for people of all ages to have their eyes checked YEARLY.
At least 10 to 15 percent – or 8 to 12 million – children are at risk for vision impairments.
PREVENTION of these conditions can be easy so, schedule your child’s eye exam today…..and while you’re at it, you can schedule your own yearly exam too!
